The Web of Life

Nash's HouseThe Web of Life is the new temporary exhibition for Nash's House in 2009. Beautiful and rare treasures from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's collections are used to illustrate the strands of life captured in Shakespeare's works. Included are Elizabethan textiles, books, pottery and contemporary works of art.

Visitors are invited to create something special in the exhibition, a woven artwork created on 'The Poetry Loom' using a wide range of recycled materials: from papr strips with quotations from Shakespeare, to fragments of waste cloth from the RSC costume wardrobe. People will also be able to weave in dyed paper strips with quotes from Shakespeare of a line or two of their own poetry. There is also a 'dressing-up' corner, for children of all ages with life-sized period 'cut-out' dolls to dress in different costumes.

The exhibition will run all year, from Valentine's Day, Saturday 14 February, just in time for half term week.
